Data and AI jobs with visa sponsorship

Sponsored data science, machine learning and AI research roles, and what the rules mean for them.

Data and AI roles with sponsorship today come mainly from AI labs, autonomous-driving companies and fintechs, with a growing number of analyst posts in the NHS.

Today there are 57 jobs of this kind with sponsorship confirmed in the advert, from 10 employers.

The rules for tech roles

Most software, data and AI roles are at degree level, so they can be sponsored under the Skilled Worker visa. The salary must meet the higher of the general threshold of £41,700 (or £33,400 for new entrants) and the going rate for the occupation code. Many tech employers advertise salaries well above both.

If you are an established or emerging leader in digital technology or research, the Global Talent visa is worth considering. It does not need a sponsor, but you need an endorsement first.

How tech employers state sponsorship

Unlike NHS adverts, private employers write their own wording, for example "we can sponsor visas" or "visa sponsorship is available for this role". Many say nothing at all, and some say they cannot sponsor. We only list adverts with a clear yes and quote the sentence on each job page.
