Main duties of the job
As one of our Vaccination & Immunisation/Health Protection Nurses you will undertake the administration of vaccinations, immunisations and testing in a wide variety of locations across the Health Board and including as a lone worker when required. We also offer a service to our housebound patients and clients.
Our programmes of work will target all population ages from our very youngest citizens right through to the young at heart. As a member of the team you will also be key in supporting our response to outbreak testing and mass immunisation programmes as needed.
The Vaccination & Immunisation/Health Protection Nurse will work alongside our many key partners and stakeholders, including our Specialist Immunisation Team and Public Health colleagues, in order to meet Welsh Government targets for immunisation. This will require post-holders to have a demonstrably positive approach to making every client contact count.
Travel to other locations across the Health Board in a timely manner, sometimes at short notice, will routinely be needed. There will also be a requirement for some work at weekends and Bank Holidays.
This post is advertised as Welsh Desirable. Whilst the candidate doesn't need to have skills in Welsh, we'll consider it an advantage when short-listing and selecting candidates. This isnt fluency, just Speaking & Listening skills at Level 3 (equivalent to CEFR B2) or above. Level 3 means being able to communicate in Welsh during routine clinical situations, such as welcoming patients, discussing straightforward aspects of their care and answering routine questions. If youre comfortable holding everyday conversations in Welsh, we encourage you to apply. Your Welsh language skills will help us provide person-centred care and enable patients to receive services in their language of choice.
