You will communicate complex and potentially distressing information with empathy, clarity and professional sensitivity. You will help families navigate what happens after their child has died, ensure their questions and views are heard, and signpost them to bereavement, practical, advocacy and other specialist support. You will also provide feedback at appropriate stages and advocate for the family's voice within the child death review process.
About the role
Act as a key worker or named contact for bereaved families, providing compassionate, individualised support.
Coordinate Child Death Review Meetings and contribute to Joint Agency Responses and Child Death Overview Panel processes.

Emotional resilience is essential. The role involves regular exposure to traumatic information and direct contact with families at an exceptionally difficult time. You will need to balance warmth and compassion with professional boundaries, confidentiality, safeguarding responsibilities and attention to your own wellbeing.
Working closely with the Senior Manager Nurse, Designated Lead Nurse and Designated Doctor for Child Death Review, this is an opportunity to make a meaningful difference to bereaved families while helping multi-agency professionals learn from every child's death and improve services for children and young people.
